OVERVIEW OF THE IMPACT OF THE CHANGES
• The Fire Precaution Acts, 1971 (Fire Certificates) and the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations, 1997, were repealed, together with another 100+ pieces of legislation
• The fire safety standard is now based solely on your Fire Risk Assessment
• Existing Fire Certificates have ceased to have effect, and no new ones will be issued
• There must now be an identified “Responsible Person”-usually the Employer
• The “Responsible Person” must appoint a “Competent Person” to assist
• Others are responsible persons to the extent they have control
