Profile Ken MacKenzie is a construction consultant, specializing in construction management and corporate training services. A chartered civil engineer and member of the Institute of Construction Safety with a record of success in project delivery, particularly rail, water, civils infrastructure, and commercial/industrial building; he designs and presents courses in construction management to help teams change from subcontracting packages of work, to managing the work directly themselves.

Profile Qualifications Honours Degree in Building Economics and Measurement, Diploma in Arbitration, Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Fellow Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors. Profile Kevin McKee has extensive experience in the Construction Industry and has worked on a wide cross-section of projects in the building, civil engineering, water and rail sectors. Kevin has worked as a contract and commercial manager for contractors, local government and as a Partner in a leading professional practice. He has been heavily involved in developing collaborative working arrangements and associated project controls with clients such as Thames Water, London Underground and Railtrack. His project experience encompasses major airport terminal developments, tunnelling, treatment plants and railway infrastructure works. During Kevin's career he has managed major programmes of work in the engineering sector. As Project Services Manager on one such programme he managed a range of professional disciplines including engineering assurance, quality, safety, commercial, procurement, planning and project controls. He has significant experience in developing innovative procurement strategies, and sat as a member of a Contracts Review Group responsible for approving individual contract strategies on a £5.4 billion programme of work. He has extensive experienceof partneringand collaberative working and is a member of the Association of Partnering Advisers. In addition to his specialist Quantity Surveying background he also has experience of managing and resolving major disputes. Kevin is an accredited mediators, a committee member of the Thames Valley Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is also a member of the Confederation of Construction Specialists Panel of Adjudicators, an Adjudicator Nominating Body (ANB) for the purposes of the Construction Act.

Profile Lorne is the founding director of Alway Associates (London) Ltd Lorne Alway has been in the Construction Industry for 25 years and in that period has worked with organisations in most sectors of the industry including building, civil engineering, marine engineering, petrochemical and oil rig construction, process plant and engineering and mechanical and electrical installation. For the first 10 years of his career Lorne worked as a quantity surveyor, commencing as a junior quantity surveyor in professional practice and progressing via assistant and senior quantity surveyor with a Local Authority and contractors through to managing a team of quantity surveyors on rig construction and then running the London office for a firm of Chartered Quantity Surveyors. Since 1986 Lorne has specialised in construction law and dispute resolution. During that period, which encompasses the formation and the commencement of trading of Alway Associates (1990), he has acted as Adjudicator and Expert Witness (Quantum) in a number of disputes, as well as lead representative in Arbitration in over 50 references and he has presented over 1200 seminars in the UK and abroad and on a range of topics related to law and dispute resolution in the Construction Industry. Lorne undertakes the drafting of contracts and sub-contracts, pleadings and referrals, vetting of tenders, drafting and vetting of collateral warranties, bonds and guarantees, production of contract administration systems, provision of legal advice including procedural, advocacy in Arbitration and Adjudication, interlocutories and at hearings/meetings. He also advises parties in joint venture and consortium relationships, partnering arrangements and PFI.

Profile Mark is currently Director of Anthony Tyrrell Consulting and delivers building control consultancy to the industry, as well as mentoring part trained surveyors through to qualification on behalf of Local Authorities and Approved Inspectors. Mark specialises in seminars on Building Regulations and Fire Safety. Previously he was Head of Learning and Development for the Butler & Young Group Ltd. Responsible for training & personal development of the group trainees, part and qualified staff. Mark developed internal training courses such as management training, workshops on specific purpose groups and general CPD requirements. Mark has written and published articles for a number of professionals publications including Fire Safety Professional, Architects journal, RICS Magazine, Association of Building Engineers, and the Spitfire Society.
